Choosing a walk-in bath with shower offers a great solution for individuals and households needing different bathing options in a shared space.
This guide explains how these baths work, who they suit and what to check before you buy. It also covers the Rushmere, the walk-in bath with a shower from Mobility Plus.
A walk-in bath has a watertight door in the side. You step in over a low threshold instead of climbing over the edge of a tub, sit down, close the door and let the bath fill. Our guide to how a walk-in bath works takes you through each stage.
A walk-in bath with a shower has an area built in for washing under running water. One fitting does both jobs, so you choose between a soak and a shower on the day.
There are two reasons this matters. You do not need to find space for a separate shower enclosure, and nobody in the house has to give up their preferred way of washing.
A walk-in bath with shower tends to suit people who:
It may not be the best fit for everyone. If standing is hard, or you use a wheelchair, a level access shower or wet room can be easier and safer. A wet room is the safest option for wheelchair users. An occupational therapist or one of our design visits can help you decide.

The choice mostly comes down to how you like to wash. If a soak helps your joints or you simply enjoy one, a bath with a shower area keeps that option. If you only ever shower, a walk-in shower or wet room takes up less room and needs no seat to sit down into. Our walk-in showers and wet rooms are worth comparing. A free design visit lets you talk through both with someone who can see your bathroom.
Yes. It has a dedicated shower area built into the bath, so one fitting covers both.
