FAQs
General questions about bathrooms, fitting and MobilityPlus
A wet room is a bathroom where the whole floor is waterproofed and laid to drain, so the showering area needs no tray, no step and no enclosure. You walk straight in at floor level, which makes it the most open form of accessible showering.
Yes. Mobility Plus design wet rooms with full open access layouts for wheelchair users, and describe them as ideal for wheelchairs and walking aids. Because there is no tray edge or threshold, a chair or frame can be taken straight into the showering area.
The showering area is guaranteed 100% waterproof, and the floor is laid so water runs to the drain rather than spreading. Shower enclosures and glazed end panels are available if you would rather contain the spray more closely than a fully open layout does.
Slip-resistant safety flooring, available in a range of styles, with ceramic options to match the rest of the bathroom. The slip resistance is part of the flooring itself rather than a coating applied on top, so it does not wear off with cleaning. Styles run beyond the utilitarian safety flooring look.
Yes. A fold-away seat is available in natural wood or a padded finish. Because it folds flat to the wall, it leaves the floor clear for a wheelchair or walking frame when it is not being used. Discreet grab rails can be positioned near the seat for support.
Discreet grab rails are positioned where you need them rather than to a fixed pattern, and integrated riser bars with five spray shower heads are part of the fit. The designer works out the positions around how you actually move in the space. Position matters more than the number fitted.
Less than most people expect. The fitters use dust sheets, and they remove the old bathroom equipment and all the waste when they finish, so you are not left dealing with the old suite or arranging a skip run yourself. The waterproofing is done as part of the same visit.
Yes. Mobility Plus provide a comprehensive warranty on their products and on the installation work, with up to 15 years product warranty and a 2-year workmanship warranty. On a wet room that matters more than on an enclosure, because the waterproofing is workmanship rather than a product you can swap out.
Wheelchair users, anyone using a walking aid, and older people who want the least possible to step over or manoeuvre around. It is a bigger job than fitting an enclosure, so the free design visit is where you find out whether your floor suits one.
What our customers say
